Wood, glass, paper mache & oils (rocks), found objects
A collection of stones arranged in a glass-topped wooden box. Look closely--they aren't ordinary stones--adorned as they are with design, twine and nails. They are not real. The stones have been made from paper mache pulp, which was then painted with oil glazes.
The box is made from recycled wood with a hand-rubbed, slightly distressed finish to suggest an artifact of some age. The stones nestle cozily in their box. Reflections and distortions created by the glass suggest the experience of viewing these stones under water, as in a still shallow creek bed.
