Paper mache, cardboard armature, recycled wood, oils
Sometimes I have to wait awhile before I know what a piece is called. Such was the case with this sculpture. The inspiration for this piece came from photos of some beautiful cave paintings in Southeast Asia; also, I happened to need a small corner table for my bedroom.
I had finished the piece--still unnamed--and was photographing it when a friend happened by and admired it. When I told her I didn't know what to call it, she immediately suggested "Pilgrimage". Perfect.
