Having finished this piece during the our most recent Atmospheric River
rain events and flooding, I have appropriately titled "No. 20230114
Flood Stage." Am happy to say that it is included in Graton Gallery's
"12th Annual Juried Small Works 2023" show.
Show opens Friday, January 20, 2023.
Last art of 2019: “A Thing of Beauty,” 15-1/2” x 6” x 3,” paper mache/plaster, garden twine, found objects, oils, acrylics. The words are Robert Henri’s from his book “The Art Spirit.” He is talking about painting, but I think this is the way we should look at the world, as well. |

Newly completed: “La Gallina” (aka Evacuation Art) 14” x 7” x 8” paper mache/plaster, acrylics, oils. I started this piece in late October when we had to evacuate our home due to the Kincaid fires. We spent five days in Oakland—sometimes without power--and I needed something to do with my time. |

OK. So here's something a little different for me. I was recently contacted by a company in Canada about using my artwork (for royalties on sales) on clothing and accessories. They showed me a sample of what my one of my paintings would look like on their designs and I was intrigued. You can see my designs at: www.art-a-porter.com/susan.ryan |

I'm pleased to announce that I have been juried into the ACCI Gallery in Berkeley CA. This artist-cooperative gallery has been in operation for 59 years. It is a lovely space, with a wonderful selection of artists. Mike and I packed up the car in cold, drenching rain on Saturday and delivered the work in cold, drenching rain on Sunday. I can't complain about this much-needed precipitation, but I have to say it was sure nice to get back home to our warm, dry house again. |

This is a new piece I am working on. Every morning, while sipping my coffee, I hammer a few more beer bottle caps. Every evening, while watching a borrowed-from-the-library movie, I put the hammered and distressed bottle caps together and add to the piece. Slowly she grows. |

Several of my Asian-inspired pieces will be on view at the Graton Gallery in Graton, CA in December and January. I'll be showing with two wonderful artists--Sally Baker and Taylor Gutermute. Should be an interesting show! |
